Electrical emergencies don’t wait for business hours

Power problems always seem to hit at the worst time. A storm rolls through Wyndham, the safety switch trips and won’t reset, or you smell something hot near the switchboard. When that happens you need a licensed electrician who answers the phone.

We take emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across Point Cook and Melbourne’s west. When you call, you speak to an electrician, not a call centre. We ask a few quick questions, tell you what to do to stay safe, and get on the road.

Our vans carry the parts for common urgent repairs, so most faults are made safe and fixed on the first visit. If something needs a bigger repair, we make it safe first and give you a clear price for the rest.

When to call straight away

Call us immediately if you notice any of these. If anyone has had an electric shock, call 000 first.

  • Sparks or smoke from a power point, switch or appliance
  • A burning or hot plastic smell with no obvious cause
  • Power points or switches that feel warm
  • A safety switch that trips again as soon as you reset it
  • Buzzing or crackling from the switchboard
  • Lights dimming or flickering across the house
  • Water near the switchboard, power points or lights
  • No power while your neighbours still have it

What happens when you call

First, we make sure you’re safe. If it’s safe to do so, we’ll ask you to switch off the main switch and keep people and pets away from anything damaged. Never touch exposed wiring, a wet switchboard or a fallen power line.

Next, we work out whether it’s your property or the network. If the whole street is out, it’s usually a network fault, and we’ll point you to your distributor’s faults line, which is on your electricity bill. If it’s just your place, we come out.

On site we find the cause, make it safe and fix it. Before any work beyond making it safe, we tell you what’s wrong and what it will cost. You get a Certificate of Electrical Safety for the work, as Victorian law requires.

Fallen power line? Stay well clear, keep others away and call your distributor’s faults line or 000. Don’t try to move it.

Emergency call-out questions

Ask a question, no obligation
Do you really answer at night?

Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7, including weekends and public holidays. Call 0405 418 132.

How fast can you get here?

It depends on where we are and what else is happening, especially during big storms. We’ll give you an honest time when you call.

Does after-hours work cost more?

After-hours rates can be different from weekday rates. Ask us on the phone and we’ll explain the cost before we head out, so you can decide.

Should I turn off the power?

If it’s safe and the switchboard is dry, switching off the main switch is usually the safest move. If there’s water, smoke or sparks near the board, stay away and call us.

What if my neighbours have no power too?

Then it’s probably a network fault. Check your distributor’s outage information or call their faults line. If your power doesn’t come back when theirs does, call us.
